Volker Paelke

Author: Volker Paelke

Volker Paelke studied computer science at the at the University of Paderborn and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), specialising on computer graphics and system design. He graduated in 1997 with a thesis on "Interactive Design of Animated 3D Objects". In 1997 he joined the Visual Interactive Systems research group at C-LAB, the joint R & D institute of Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG and the University of Paderborn, where he conducted research projects in the domain of 3D visualization, 3D user-interfaces and mixed and augmented reality. In 2002 he obtained his PhD from the University of Paderborn. Since 2004 he is junior Professor for Augmented Reality and 3D Geovisualization at the Institute for Cartography and Geoinformatics at the University of Hanover. His primary research interests are in the domains of augmented and virtual reality and location-based services, especially interaction techniques for spatial data and effective visualization techniques.
