Robert S. Laramee is a Senior Researcher at the VRVis Research Center. VRVis is a research center that attempts to form a transfer-of-knowledge bridge between universities and the private industry sector in Austria. In this specific case, the private sector is AVL (www.avl.com) and the university is Vienna University of Technology. As a senior researcher, Robert carries out research and development in the area of scientific visualization. The focus of the research is in the area flow visualization and the software, written in C , is developed jointly with AVL. All development is carried out directly within the software environment of AVL in order to take advantage of the commercial benefits that result from the research. Thus the novel algorithms that have been written can immediately be sold to AVL's customers. AVL's software is designed to visualize the results of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
