Leah Maestri

Author: Leah Maestri

B.Sc.

Leah Maestri graduated with a B.Sc. from the Interactive Arts and Technology program at Simon Fraser University in 2007. During her undergraduate years she worked on numerous research projects as a research assistant. During the last two years of her undergrad, she worked on the \"Everyday Design\" project as a design ethnographer. Using ethnographic methods, the study looked at describing home dwellers as a type of \'everyday designer\'; an individual who remakes or modifies systems in the home to best fit everyday practices through continuous use. Leah worked with two separate families over the span of a year, during which time she honed her skills in both design methodologies and ethnography. She co-authored two papers with Professor Ron Wakkary. Their paper \"The resourcefulness of everyday design\" was awarded one of two best paper awards at the Creativity and Cognition Conference in 2007. In pursue of her interests in sustainability and green design, Leah currently works as a Communications Manager for Sea Breeze Power Corp.; a renewable energy company that develops utility-scale energy and independent transmission systems.
