We’re excited to invite you to our next IxDF Gothenburg meetup, where we’ll be joined by special guest speaker Pontus Wärnestål, presenting “Beyond the Hype: Designing AI-Powered Services that Work”.

This event is open to everyone who wants to network, make meaningful connections, dive into cutting-edge design topics, and exchange ideas in a friendly and curious environment — whether you’re deep into UX or just starting out!

About Pontus:
Pontus Wärnestål (he/him) is an award-winning Service Designer and Human-Computer Interaction researcher, with 20+ years of work and research experience in User Experience, Service Design, and Human-Centered AI. He is the author of 40+ scientific papers and books, including "Designing AI-Powered Services" (2021) which is used by several university design and HCI programs. 

Pontus currently serves as Deputy Professor at Halmstad University and as Senior Designer at Ambition Group in Gothenburg.

More about the talk:
As AI transitions from hype to a core component of service and UX design, there’s an urgent need for designers to treat AI as a specific material for innovation, crafting experiences that not only captivate end-users but also enhance internal efficiency in the organization. 

Viewing machine learning and genAI as a design material enables designers to deliver quick wins while laying the groundwork for long-lasting value. As all materials we work with, we need to ensure the right methods and tools, as well as the responsible deployment, ethical considerations, and avoiding tech hype. 

The talk is tech-light, and focuses on patterns for designing AI-powered services.
