What are Local Groups?
Local Groups will expand your career network—whether you are interested in learning new skills, finding job opportunities or looking for a new employee.
A Local Group is a group of people who, like you, are passionate about design. Local Groups organize meetings to get inspired, have fun and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Details

Before COVID, we would often have casual meetups in local coffee shops, and I miss those. Since meeting face to face isn't going to be an option for a while, I thought we'd try to for the virtual equivalent.

This online meetup will be a cozy, informal event for anyone interested in UX. Come chat with our local community of designers, researchers, and those who are just starting out.

Bring your own coffee (or tea).

Date & Time: Monday, September 21⋅2:00 – 3:00pm

Questions? Suggestions? Please feel free to post in the discussion board or reach out to me directly (kevin@mcgowan.design).

Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Virtual Coffee Break and Chat held on Sep 21, 2020. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hello! I'm new to IxDF (and to UX/UI in general,) so I'm really excited to join the gathering. And, despite having moved to Boston in 2015, I still feel relatively new to the city as well, so it will be nice to make some acquaintances. Can't wait to meet you all!

Hello...same for me, new to IxDF and to UX/UI. My background is in print design and branding, and I'm looking to get into UX but am completely unsure about how and where to begin. Looking forward to connections here, and IRL when that is an option. I'm in western Massachusetts (yes, there IS life west of Boston LOL).

Hello! I am Sophie. I am new to IxDF and to UX/UI. I am an international grad student in Northeastern university. Although my major in master degree is digital media, I don't have any related work experience before. So, sometimes I feel anxious because of unfamiliar industry and environment. Look forward to making many friends here, and communicating with you. Thanks~~

Hey, I am Abhishek. I am new to IxDF and to UX/UI as well. I have a masters in computer science and I previously worked as a software engineer but do not have previous experience as a designer of any kind. I have been taking courses in the UX pathway through IxDF and have been working on my portfolio but feel uncertain about what to expect as per the UX job market. I look forward to meeting new people who are currently trying to find their first UX role as well as people who have experience in such a role who could offer advise and set my expectations.

Thanks for setting this up Kevin. Welcome! new people to this group - Looking forward to meeting you all.

Cheers,
Sumi

Hello everyone!

I'm Khrystyna, a recent Career Foundry Bootcamp grad in UX with a specialization in UI. My background is in customer service and sales. And while I'm looking for job opportunities in Boston area, I enjoy taking IDF courses and meeting so many fantastic people.

I'm looking forward to our online meeting. See you there!

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
