What are Local Groups?
Local Groups will expand your career network—whether you are interested in learning new skills, finding job opportunities or looking for a new employee.
A Local Group is a group of people who, like you, are passionate about design. Local Groups organize meetings to get inspired, have fun and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Details

Happy 2020 IxDF Manchester! We're testing out a new format of meetups every 2 months to be more focused and cater to what most of you seem to be here for. A non-judgemental support group on how to make it in the UX field, and let off some steam.

It's part of the job description..!

Agenda

30 minutes support group:

  • How to transition into UX
  • Developing your UX career
  • Coursework discussion and help

Afterwards:

  • Networking
  • Wine 🍷
  • Problems and barriers you're facing at work

About Night and Day Cafe

Like the name suggests, you can get day drinks like tea, coffee and juice, or something stronger like beer, cider, and mixers if you've had one of those days.

Who'll be there?

As usual, your local leaders will be on-hand to laugh and cry with you.

Charlene is a UX researcher that came from a marketing background.

Chuck is a UX/UI designer that came from a software engineering background.

Hope to see you there!

Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss UX Support and Whining held on Feb 18, 2020. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hey everyone

I am very new to UX , and hoping to build career in it. Can I join this meet up??

Hey Nishkam, of course! Whether you're a veteran or just curious about the UX field (or any related design field), drop in and let's have a little chat :)

I’m working away this week and gutted that I’ll miss this meet. It would have been perfect for me as I am transitioning into UX from software developer.

Will there be another session on this subject or anything I can follow-up with?

Thanks

Chris Wood

Hey Chris, sorry you can’t make it! We’ll host these every other month, but if you want to have an informal chat on the phone before then, you can drop me an email at chuck@chuckwired.com.

Best of luck on your transition otherwise

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
