Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss NEWBIE SAYING HELLO held on Apr 30, 2019. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hello. How would the meet-up be organised since it's online? Slack?

Hello. Please let us know the tool to use for the meeting.

Any info how the meet-up will be held?

Hi Guys...I would suggest we have a Telegram Group Created for All Nigerians Under IxDF (just thinking out loud here)

Good idea Owolabi

Good afternoon everyone, what's the plan for the meetup, its time already.

Hello, i am new here and would love to attend the meet up

hi...it is very great to be here

still no news on the meetup??

any plans about the meetup?

Hi Everyone, Official Newbie alert!!

Still finding my way around...I'm glad to meet you all.

Hello. I saw this pretty late and I don't if another one will happen. I am a newbie hoping to meet with people within the industry. I hope I can meet some of you over time.

Hello everyone! I'm new here, it is nice to be part of this community and I hope to learn a great deal and connect with some of you as well.

Hi guys. Went through the thread and realized majority of us have questions but no one seem to be giving an answer so I guessed it's because we done use platforms like this on a regular but if that is the case, then can we create a group either on telegram or whatsapp as suggested by @Owolabi Aregbesola? for ease of communication. Peace!!

I'm In!

Hello Everyone,

It's been months since someone suggested we have a group for Nigerians here, it appears nothing has been done or one existing. We should create a Telegram or Whatsapp group for All Nigerians Under IxDF. If you're in, drop your mobile here.

Cheers!

For privacy sake i think you can just create the group and send the link here so anybody interested can connect with the link. Just my thought :)

I second Mr Lucky's Position

You're right at Lucky! I will create the group and send the link here.

Great idea guys! but can we do Slack instead of Whatsapp? Slack is ideal for tech platforms because of its features. It's a suggestion tho!

Yes we can use slack

I will go with the idea of using slack as well

@Opeyemi Slack is fine from a Tech standing point. Also, I don't think we need a Whatsapp group anymore with the numbers of group that we Nigerians are currently an active member. And with slack, we could maintain privacy.

@Sabo Lucky I think we should go with the slack. @Opeyemi see the link below.

Great then... I am glad we are finally talking :)

Hi friends,

Here's the link to join the Slack account created for All Nigerians Under IDF as suggested in the thread. With this, we could share ideas, learn more and open to more opportunities. Good luck!

Good one @Samuel

Great effort Samuel. Apparently, I'm unable to join via my Slack app. Could you check the link again?

Hi Everyone ... i can understand that it will be an IxDF Lagos related group but will it be for nigerians only ? since non Nigerians may want to connect to peers too

Your point is valid Tony. But I think we should get to know ourselves locally first before we start bringing other members of the community in.

I agree with @Opeyemi. Also, here's the link

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
