Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss IxDF Denver Online Meet and Greet held on May 7, 2020. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hi all! Looking forward to attending! Is this am or pm

Hi Gwyn,

The time is PM.

Looking forward to chatting!

Hello! Looking forward to it. As Gwyn mentioned, please verify the time for this event. Invitation appears as 06:00-07:00, suggesting AM, though usually held in the PM. Also, the iCalendar/Outlook link provided a 7am-8am Mountain Time event. Thanks!

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the question. Not an early riser? ;) Time is pm. Not sure why it is saying am... Calendar invites are auto-generated, I believe. I'll need to work with IxDF on the issue. Thanks for alerting me!

Looking forward to chatting!

Hi all! I'm looking forward to connecting with you all next week! Thursday, May 7th at 7pm! Given that we're meeting online, I'm going to enact some security and have folks register so we can keep the Zoom link private. I'm working with the Denver Leader, Amanda on getting an Eventbrite set up, so a link to that will be posted once it's set up. Keep an eye out!

The agenda for the meeting is simple - let's get to know one another! I'm exploring UX as a future career so am looking to connect with people to see if it is a true fit. I'm sure the community has their own needs and reasons for connecting, so want to provide an opportunity for others to find connections that will support their journey as well.

Here's how the meeting will go. We'll each have the opportunity to briefly offer the following:

  • name
  • level of experience in UX field, generally
  • what you are looking for in the community (general UX connection, help on a UX project, help w/ specific topic, etc.)

Attendees can private chat to speaker if they feel they can provide info, support, etc that was asked for. This enables people to share preferred method of contact & information.

Other goals for meeting:

  • Answer questions about IDF. Amanda, Denver Leader will be on hand to take these.
  • Find out what topics people are interested in for future meetings and if others are willing to host future meet-ups.
  • Share general resources that may have come up through the meeting.

Looking forward to chatting with you soon!

Hi all! I'm looking forward to meeting and greeting you tonight! (7-8pm) I have just sent you details via contact info I could find via your IxDF profile. Mostly, Facebook Messenger, some email, some LinkedIn Connection requests and a few via your website contact forms. If you did not get something from me in any of those platforms, please reach out via Facebook Messenger so I can share the details with you.

As a reminder, I want to keep the Zoom link private for the security of the group. If you have invited guests, you may share that link with them since they don't appear on this meet-up page for me to contact. Please ask them to keep the link private.

Please come prepared with what you want to ask the group for as there will only be a few minutes for each person to share.

Chat soon!

Best,

Brenda

The invite you sent says 6pm.

Hi Matthew, that looks like the original calendar invite....I updated the time to 7pm and have sent everyone individually a private Zoom link. Sorry for the confusion! It appears that updating the meeting details didn't update the calendar invite. I sent you details via the form on your website. Check that for the zoom link for 7pm.

This was added to my calendar via the email invite for 6pm Mountain Time. Zoom currently says “Starts at 6:00 PM” also. However, the host hasn’t started so it must be at 7 pm. Sorry I won’t make it then. I’m hopeful the kinks ge worked out for the next one.

Hi all, sorry for the confusion. I have updated the calendar invite with a new link - hopefully that updated yours. Just in case, here it is: https://zoom.us/j/91675053204 We'll all be on zoom bomb watch! :)

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
