Local Groups will expand your career network—whether you are interested in learning new skills, finding job opportunities or looking for a new employee.
A Local Group is a group of people who, like you, are passionate about design. Local Groups organize meetings to get inspired, have fun and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Details

Hi IxDF Seattle, my name is Shane and I've created this meetup for aspiring and current designers who would like meet up and network over coffee. I'm currently enrolled in a UX certificate program and would love to meet like-minded people. Ideally we'll share UX design insights and resources, discuss UX problems you are facing now, or just chat about anything else. Nothing formal but an open forum to make some quality connections and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Discussion

Hi all! Please use this discussion thread to discuss Coffee + UX meetup for aspiring and current designers held on Sep 29, 2019. Feel free to ask questions about the place, date and time, agenda of the meeting, or anything else.

Hey Shane, thanks for putting another Meet up together. I know the last one kind of fell through. Did you mean to set the time at 3 - 5 AM, or were you meaning 3 - 5 PM?

Ah, thanks for pointing that out LOL, definitely didn't mean AM; I'll change it. And sure, no problem! After sitting alone in a coffee shop last time wondering what was going on I thought I'd make sure something solid happened the next time. I look forward to meeting you!

Only one KEXP location, that certainly helps! Let's also help find each other by having some kind of IxDF Meetup sign at the table...

Probably a good Idea Michael. Who ever arrives first maybe.

Does anyone know how parking is in the area?

Hi All! I will do my best to get there early and have a sign. Also I'll post what I'm wearing to make it easier.

Next, I was thinking it would be a fun ice breaker to split into two teams and tackle a design (thinking) challenge for the first hour. If anybody hates this idea, please say so. If not, it would be awesome if people would volunteer to bring different mediums to create prototypes with such as paper, clay, tape, etc.

Let me know your thoughts! The whole point of this is to have fun, get to know each other and to learn some different design thinking/ux/etc. stuff!

I look forward to meeting everybody this Sunday!

Hi everybody,

I will be wearing gray jeans, black shirt/coat and bright fuschia pink shoes (you can't miss 'em!).

See you all at 3.

-Shane

Hi all,

I'm here. Standing up facing the door on Queen Anne ave. Just to your right and back a few tables as you enter...

okay, now we are at the long table directly across from where you come in the front doors

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
