What are Local Groups?

A Local Group is a group of people who, like you, are passionate about design. Local Groups organize meetings to get inspired, have fun and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Details

It is often said that good design is universal design. For anyone who has tried to incorporate this principle into her work, the criteria can be ambiguous. The Denver IxDF is partnering with Nutrislice to bring you a timely talk on accessibility principles and techniques. Does your website meet accessibility standards? How do individuals with disabilities interact with and use the web? Are you familiar with tools for evaluating your website's accessibility? Our keynote will cover accessibility principles, techniques, evaluation tools, and what you need to know in order to keep your website compliant with legal guidelines and international standards.

Our speakers Ewa Nowak and Kelly King have been involved with UX, design, and product development for over 20 years.

Ewa has a wide skill set of design strategy, user research, information architecture, visual design, content strategy, and interaction design. She leads project teams on a user-centered product design journey that combines user, business, and development goals. She uses data analysis and collaboration skills to provide direction and vision to help make informed decisions for teams to execute. She is a Senior UX Designer at Nutrislice. Ewa has an MA from the University of Colorado.

Kelly is a user researcher, interaction designer, and front-end developer. When collaborating with her team she brings the customer’s voice into the forefront of the conversation. By focusing on research, analytics, and best-practices she strives to make inclusive and accessible products and experiences. She is a UX Engineer at Sounds True. Kelly has an MFA from Syracuse University.

Feel free to bring something to share as we will be networking before and after the talk.

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
