A Local Group is a group of people who, like you, are passionate about design. Local Groups organize meetings to get inspired, have fun and learn from one another.

Meet-Up Details

IxDF log and picture of multiple silhouettes demonstrating the some of the diversity in accessibility.

Join us for a new series this spring.

The accessibility principles that we will talk about :

  • What is a disability?

  • List of some potential disabilities and how context plays a role

  • UI solutions for each disability (our focus for this event is colourblindness and low vision)

  • Accessibility in research and user empathy

  • Familiarizing with WCAG standard

We will then jump into testing our favourite websites for accessibility and find some obvious and not-so-obvious examples of accessibility issues.

Takeaways:

  • Knowing what is accessibility, specifically as it relates to colour and vision.

  • How you can test for accessibility with no prior knowledge

  • Be able to have a conversation about the business and user benefits to advocate for vision accessibility.

Just finished the planning with Hossein for our event! Going to be a blast!

Anyone will be able to walk away from this presentation feeling confident to have a conversation about the benefits and how to test for vision accessibility related to low vision, colour blindness and more.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Meet-up attendees

Members can show their interest to attend a meet-up by clicking “Attend this meet-up” button. In addition, since Local Groups events are open to all, non-members can also attend these meet-ups.

Members might be bringing their non-member friends to a Local Group meet-up (and you’re welcome to do the same), but their non-member friends will not be shown as “attending” because this feature is only available to members.

P.S.: Note that the number of attendees is not an indication of its value! Small meet-ups work perfectly, and can facilitate deeper, more fruitful conversations.
