2020 Guest Speaker Series featuring Matthew Burgess
Meet-Up Details
Hello fellow UX, UI and aspiring designers. I'm pleased to announce our next guest speaker meetup featuring Matthew Burgess.
Matt Burgess is a self-proclaimed (UX) Designer of 27 years whose first overhaul of a menu system IA at the age of 16 launched him into lifetime of experiments in CX, UX, Motion, Service, and Industrial design as well as a short stint as a pastry chef. At the heart of this is a passion for understanding the need of and impacts on the ecosystems and communities he serves. This is where great user research practices come in.
Topic of meetup: The “Why” Behind User Research.
This talk is a light walk through user research’s connection to behavioral science connecting everyday challenges in user research to possible practical paths forward. We’ll venture beyond the tools and methodologies to help new user researchers better frame the “why” behind their work and make a better case for conducting research in any context.
Matthew's presentation will last approximately 45 minutes with 15 minutes left for Q&A. The remaining hour will be open for any other topics you'd like to discuss.
Finally, and this is VERY important, please do not commit unless you are 100% certain you can attend! We've had numerous meetups with poor attendance compared to those committed, and it affects the meetings. Remember, empathy for your users (the rest of the attendees). See you soon!
