[Date unavailable]: A very important level of abstration. Most design guides laydown how things need to interact with the user but not why. Alan Cooper goes to great effort to explain the importance of the why, and more importantly how to arive at the specific why in context of each project. His books are of tremendus value to anyone contemplating the design of any product that uses computation wheter it be software for a computer or an interactive device like a washing machine. Note: I could be wrong but i think that alan cooper was the person who coined the phrase "Interaction Design" to begin with.
