Griswold, Ralph E. and Jeffery, Clinton L. (1994): Nova: Low-Cost Data Animation Using a Radar-Sweep Metaphor. In: Szekely, Pedro (ed.) Proceedings of the 7th annual ACM symposium on User interface software and technology November 02 - 04, 1994, Marina del Rey, California, United States. pp. 131-132. http://www.acm.org/pubs/articles/proceedings/uist/192426/p131-griswold/p131-griswold.pdf

We use nova to visualize program behavior such as individual memory allocations, where the number of bytes in each allocation is a natural primary numeric dimension.
