Massoud studied at Sunderland University gaining a 1stclass honors degree in Electronic and Control Engineering in 1988 and with aPhD in Artificial Intelligence in 1991. During this time Massoud worked as aresearch assistant and provided support to first year degree studentsundertaking projects. This was followed by a year as a research fellow at Newcastle University and as a part time lecturer teaching computer simulation.

Massoud then went to work for Prism Technologies as a control/software engineerbefore returning to Iran.He spent five years in Iranbetween 1995-2000 first of all working for Iran's Ministry of Industry as Headof Research Officer. He then worked for Yazd Universityas a Dean in the Electrical and Electronics department and head of theircontrol research group. Then he worked as Managing Director for a softwareproduction and consultancy firm while continuing to teaching as part timelecturer at Tehran University.

Massoud worked as a freelance business system designer and programmer for justover a year after returning to Englandfrom Iranin December 2000. This freelance work involved programming with Visual Basic,Java and C as well as designing websites for a number of small businesses. Hethen became a lecturer at the college on the HE Computing & BusinessTechnology team.

During the period 1990-2003 Massoud has had fourteen articles published. He isthe founder of animated teaching pedagogy and has written and practiced thisapproach through many years of his teaching. Currently some of his work ispresented on his site at http://elesson.co.uk.
