Hiyama, Atsushi, Doyama, Yusuke, Miyashita, Mariko, Ebuchi, Eikan, Seki, Masazumi and Hirose, Michitaka (2011): Artisanship training using wearable egocentric display. In: Proceedings of the 2011 ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology 2011. pp. 81-82.

In recent years, most of traditional artisanship is declining because of aging skilled artisan and fewer successors. Therefore, methods for digital archiving of such traditional artisanship are needed. We have constructed a wearable skill-training interface that displays egocentric visual and audio information and muscle activities of an artisan. We used acceleration data of an instrument associated with the usage of the tools for evaluating the effect of proposed wearable display system. This paper introduces the concept and development of wearable egocentric display. Then briefly reports the application results in Kamisuki, Japanese traditional papermaking.
