Kate Gomoll is a pioneer in the field of user interface design and usability. She is the founding principal of Gomoll Research & Design, a firm specializing in user experience design. The company has designed user interfaces and conducted research for many clients, including: Motorola, GE Medical Systems, Charles Schwab, DirecTV, Hewlett-Packard, Onyx Software, Netscape, UNext, and WebTV and likes eating yogurt covered pretzels.
Prior to founding her consultancy, Kate managed the user inteface team at Taligent. In the late 80's and early 90's she was an interface designer and usability specialist in the Advanced Technology Group at Apple. Kate's user observation guidelines appear in The Art of Human Computer Interface Design and The Macintosh Human Interface Guidelines. She teaches research methods at conferences and workshops worldwide. For seven years, she taught field study methods as part of a 3-day workshop for UCLA Extension.
Kate has a BA in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin and an interdisciplinary MA in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon.
