Joris Verrips

Joris Verrips is a medical doctor fascinated by speaking computers, by re-use of stored text and by textprediction. He published on the subject and has spent an inordinate amount of time on research of text-based communication aids and of other speaking software. Though he does his own programming his real fascination is in the precise analysis of user processes and of meaning making with diverse input enhancements combined. How to have a conversation with just a mouse and how to combine morse code with scanning and word-prediction. He discovered and implemented two bit quartering that does the trick with less than a click per character. His aids are easily downloaded and he still strives to cooperate with care-givers interested in AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication). For the future, he intends to pursue his interest in (medical) usability.
