John Restrepo has been a member of staff at the Technical University of Denamrk since 2005. He is Associate Professor of Product Development at the Department of Management Engineering, Section of Engineering Design and Product Development. John received his Ph.D. in Product Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands in 2004. During his Ph.D.he studied Engineering Designers design strategies and information use. An abstract of his dissertation, Information Processing in Design, can be found here. John's current research interests are: Design for Health Environments and Patient Safety Complexity Reduction in OT: Research into how to reduce the risk of error by better design of medical equipment Design for Safety in the OT Design for Elderly People Innovation in Product Development and User Centred Design Innovation Strategies in Technology Based SMEs: Research in Identifying Drivers and Barriers to Innovation in SME's Capturing User Experience in Complex Environments: Using User Centred Design Techniques to Elicit Requirements and Identify Opportunities in Complex Environments such as Operating Theathers Kansei Engineering and Product Semantics: Automatic Indexing of Image Databases using Content Based Image Retrieval Systems and Kansei Engineering Robustness and Reliability Improving R&R at conceptual design stages Design of Robust Mechanisms and Compliant Mechanisms (Specially for Medical App.)
