Jim Rudd is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and the Practice Leader for the Customer Experience Strategy and Design Practice with IBM Global Services. Jim started his career at The Aerospace Corporation in 1987 and joined IBM in 1988, where he has held a number of different positions in IBM's software development labs and with IBM Global Services.
In his current role, Jim helps companies across a wide range of industries to create customer experience (CE) strategies, perform CE visioning, and lead teams in all phases of user-interface assessment, design, and development. He also serves as the chief technology officer for IBM Consulting's Customer Experience Branding, and Usability Design organization.
Jim holds an M.S. in computer science from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in applied-experimental psychology (human factors) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is a member of the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM), ACM - Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction, Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and the Usability Professionals Association. Jim holds many patents in user-interface technology, and is the co-author of a book and many technical articles on user-interface design and prototyping. Jim is also a Certified Professional Ergnomist.
