David A. Marca holds a Business Area Chair at the University of Phoenix. He is certified to teach in the undergraduate, graduate and MBA programs, and to deliver courses in the on-line and on-ground modalities in the following areas: e-Business, organizational leadership and change management, management of R&D and the innovation process, project planning and implementation, project management in the technical environment, research and information utilization, computers and information management for business, systems analysis, database concepts and design, problem-based learning, college mathematics, fundamentals of programming, a variety of programming languages including Web programming, life-long learning, and professional development.
David is also the standing program chair for the International Conference on e-Business (ICE-B). The purpose of ICE-B is to address state-of-the-art concepts and applications in communications and software technologies and architectures, Web and mobile systems and applications, and the business, social and legal aspects of e-Business. David was also the general chair for the 4th International Workshop on Software Specification and Design (IWSSD), and was on its program committee for several years thereafter.
Previously, David was on the Adjunct Faculty of Boston University, where he delivered technology courses for the Office of Distance Education in the areas of: client/server, systems analysis, workflow, business process reengineering to Fortune 2000 companies and state agencies; and groupware, ethnography and systems analysis courses for the Computer Science Department. He was also on the Adjunct Faculty for Binghamton University, where he delivered graduate and undergraduate courses on systems analysis and programming languages for the computer science and business curriculums.
David has published six books and 25 papers covering e-Business, e-Commerce, business process reengineering, groupware/workflow, software engineering and programming languages. He holds a U.S. patent in workflow technology. His latest book, entitled “Open Process Frameworks: Patterns for the Adaptive e-Enterprise,” was published by the IEEE in 2006. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
